Local artist Jon Evison launches new unseen collection for culture lovers across the county.

The majority of the works are unseen in exhibitions and have mostly been produced in the last two years. A lot of them have been fun to return to, working on memories of travels, long walks on coastal paths and memorable surf sessions.

Using a lot of found materials and working in mixed media, I have put together a collection of Juxtapositions based around surf, travel and ocean culture that are different from my usual landscape paintings, which are also available to view in this exhibition.

These works have been great fun to make and I hope that they make up a varied collection that shows where my practice is right now. The idea is to invoke atmosphere and memories in the viewer of places that they have been and if not,to allow them to dream their way there.

As one of the owners of Café Irie and somewhere that I spend a great deal of my working life, it is a joy to bring this collection of works to the Café and share with my friends and customers a taste of what I do outside of Café Irie. It is also the first place I exhibited in Newquay so it is nice to be back.
